Little Bear's Adventures
In the Amana Colonies Last fall, Beth and Don took me to a historic village in Iowa. We stayed in a hotel that was once a textile mill. This is me, sitting inside a cardboard tube, wrapped with wool yarn. There were lots of other rolls of yarn. So many colors! Beth let me pick the color I liked best. Green! What do we call those tubes of rolled yarn? It was a pretty display. This display of yarn was near the lobby. I sat for a bit and watched a few people come and go. Beth took me outside to see the old smoke stack. I asked her to pose me way up there.
She said, "Not today."

Jardin des Tuileries We headed towards this famous park in Paris, last November. I had my eye on the Ferris Wheel. Maybe Beth would let me ride! But Beth stopped to pose me on a statue instead. That was sort of entertaining. But Beth just rested me on the statue's foot. Beth scooped me up and put me back in her bag. By the time we got near the Ferris Wheel, Beth said it was too crowded to get me out.
Oh well. A Trip to Paris In November, Beth and Don took me to Paris. They didn't pose me near the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomph. Beth placed me on a slippery surface near a green lawn. She told me to enjoy the view. That was the Louvre Museum, far across the lawn.
Thanks so much Beth, for not taking me inside the Louvre, to see the Mona Lisa. National Park In Oregon Today I'm remembering a trip last June. I sat on a rock, high above Crater Lake and wondered. I wondered about that cold snow. I wondered about cold water. I wondered about how the lake was formed by the collapse of a volcano, over 7,000 years ago.
There was a lot to think about. Mostly I thought about how I didn't want a big breeze to blow my way and send me tumbling...! 4 Faces Here I am, joining in with a set of nesting dolls. I tried to look pleasant, like the other 3 faces. But I left the 3 dolls alone after a while. I couldn't conjure up a proper smile. Missing My Buddy Seeing the dolls made me miss my Buddy, Charlie. Last June, Charlie was 2 and we played with the nesting dolls. Charlie liked to take out the little "Baby" doll and hide it. Then she'd ask, "Where's Baby?" Me Then Charlie had fun putting me inside the big doll. She was very pleased with herself. And I was happy to play.
It's been almost a year since we played with these dolls. Charlie is 3 and much bigger. I hope she'll still want to hide me in the doll. |
