, Picnic with Cheryl Cheryl and I enjoyed a number of dining adventures when I first started blogging 10 years ago. Today, we had our first picnic adventure! We met at Pecan Park on a gorgeous day. The pecan trees had no leaves, so we had no shade. But the temps felt ideal. We sat at the picnic table and talked for 90 minutes. Feeling just a tiny bit warm, we picked up our basket and cloth and headed for shade. We sat in chairs near the bandstand and another 90 minutes passed. We sipped on water and at one point I pulled out a sandwich and nibbled. But mostly, the food was forgotten. Sometimes the talk is so much better than the food. The food in the basket was there, "if needed". Just like carrying an umbrella. But today's picnic was all about being together and catching up with a good friend. The very best kind of picnic!

Fishy Beach Picnic, in Summer 2021 This will go down as one of the oddest picnics in memory. We ended up at this beach in July 2021, thanks to our host at the Itty Bitty Inn. After checking into our Tiki-decorated motel room, our host insisted we get ourselves on down to Chuck's Seafood Market. He handed us a cutting board and knife and told us to get going. Rik told us just what to buy and said we needed take our purchase to a beach and enjoy it with a bottle of wine. We did as told. We bought oyster sticks and octopus jerky and lots of other goodies that the locals all adore. I'm pictured with a salmon fin and Don is enjoying smoked salmon stick! It was odd and wonderful!

Mom's Picnic List
In honor of my mother on the first Mother's Day since she has passed, I dedicate a new list... Mom's Picnic List!
Mom loved picnics and she raised her kids to appreciate the simple pleasures of food, family and friends in the great out of doors. My Plan I will spend a year reflecting on as many past picnics as I can remember. But, I'll also appreciate the here and now by creating new picnic experiences. My goal is to share at least 60 picnic memories, since that's how many years Mom was a mom! Let the picnics begin! Archives
