No Picnic I had hoped to have a breakfast picnic, last summer. Our Glenwood Springs hotel was across the street from the train station. The river was just beyond. We could grab breakfast and coffee from our hotel and eat, with a view of the tracks and mountains and river! But it was pouring when we woke the next morning. I was crushed, to miss out. Then I remembered the mini picnic shelters we'd seen in town. Each was a canvas for a different artist! I'd taken photos the day before and was charmed by the sweet idea. I'm glad I got photos, because we gave up on crossing the street that morning. The mixture of rain and wind kept us inside.
Maybe next time!

Fun Table & Stunning View Just a short drive from Taos, we came upon a dramatic bridge that crossed Rio Grande Gorge. And then we found the most curious boxy picnic table! The sun was intense, but the table was tucked inside a little shelter. I cannot pass up a perfect picnic spot. But we had no picnic! So we pulled a can of Pringles out of our travel bag. Some water. Yep! That makes a picnic. We munched and slurped in the shade! After our nutritious snack-meal, we walked across the bridge and enjoyed the meal.
A happy memory from 2022! Minus Stone Tables Last July, Don and I stopped in Redstone, with our deli picnic. We had fond memories of this park and view. But our favorite marble picnic tables were all in use. We had to settle for a good old fashioned wooden picnic table. But how could we complain? Look at the view!

Mom's Picnic List
In honor of my mother on the first Mother's Day since she has passed, I dedicate a new list... Mom's Picnic List!
Mom loved picnics and she raised her kids to appreciate the simple pleasures of food, family and friends in the great out of doors. My Plan I will spend a year reflecting on as many past picnics as I can remember. But, I'll also appreciate the here and now by creating new picnic experiences. My goal is to share at least 60 picnic memories, since that's how many years Mom was a mom! Let the picnics begin! Archives
