Best Part of March The best part of the month was being together with the "kids" in California. In early March we gathered in Sacramento. It's been 1.5 years since we 7 were all together. It was fun to join in the celebration that we'll be soon welcoming an 8th family member! March 1 The month began with an eerie gloom. Concerns for Ukraine and National Parks. On and on. I put on my blue & yellow shirt and sipped coffee from my Glacier National Park mug. On the first day of the month Don and I headed off on a long walk with our supportive shirts. There were good surprises, that morning. A sweet bird that made me stop. A rock near the sidewalk, reminding me to Take a Moment and Breath. Celebrations The world seems uncertain right now, but there were some good distractions with holidays. Mardi Gras and St. Pat's! We're always game for these colorful holidays! Magical Escape On March 6, Don and I escaped to California, where we rented the sweet "Hobbit House", in a charming Sacramento neighborhood. The whimsical cottage from 1944, was home for 4 nights. Family at the Cottage We didn't actually have much time to hang out in the historic rental house, but we gathered with family after dinner a few nights. I feel incredibly lucky that our son and daughter-in-law, are expecting. I love a growing family. Baby Shower A Baby Shower (actually 2 of them) was the reason we came together in Sacramento. These 2 will be incredible parents someday.! Baby showers are helpful to first time parents. But it was also a great reason to bring Chali and Scott's family members to come together! Hanging Out The time went too fast, but we made some fun memories, over the long weekend. Pipe cleaners are more entertaining than I remember. Charlie and I enjoyed our pipe cleaner hairdos. We absorbed as much family time as possible over the weekend. Aunt Cha and Uncle Scott once again showed us, they'll be great parents! I wish we all lived closer! Mid March Back Home Our 26 year old azaleas were blooming when we got home. They haven't grown much, but the trees have. No swimming in March, but reading by the pool was nice. A Project Our baby focus in California, inspired a project! This chair has been in the family since before I was born. So many layers of paint and fabric. So many people have rocked... Focus on Parks By mid March, there were more political worries swirling around. I avoided news and Don focused on wearing every National Park shirt he owns. We find ways to cope. Austin At the end of the month we headed to Austin. It was bluebonnet season in the Hill Country and this girl was celebrating. Don and I babysat one day/night. Another evening, the 5 of us celebrated my birthday. 10 days early. Cabin Time After 2 nights in Austin, we stole this little girl away and went to the cabin. One night hanging out with Pop Pop & Gramma! The weather was glorious sitting out in the evening. March 31 On the last day of March, Charlie helped me turn off the water before heading home. ![]() She found a roly-poly and couldn't have been happier. She listed all the animals she'd seen, as we drove away. "3 lizards, 2 roll-polys, a mockingbird and a deer..."
It was a good month with family!
