A Quiet Morning
We peeked inside the cozy little cafe where Diana and her cook were busy getting orders for a few on the patio.
Stuff from Holland
Diana is from the The Netherlands, so it's not surprising she would decorate with some fun goodies like wooden shoes. I didn't ask her if she ever wore them. I should have shared with her that I had a pair I wore quite a bit when I was in high school, until they became a chew toy for the dog.
Don and I decided to eat at the outdoor tables. I loved sipping coffee with mini Stroopwafle cookies. You have to love the tablecloth, printed to look like Delft tiles!
Chatting with Diana
Diana posed with me beside one of the great animal murals inside. She was also great at giving the scoop on the windmill next door. I so badly wanted to go up to the bar/club inside the windmill, but it didn't even open till 11 pm. Diana laughed about the characters she's seen heading home after the club closes at 7 am! I asked if she got some "Post Club" business and she was happy that those stumbling characters did not come her way.
As you can see this doesn't look like an American pancake. It was more like a crepe and it was larger than a Frisbee! We had about 20 to chose from, so we ordered one sweet and one savory. This is the apple cinnamon. The other was a Gouda cheese pancake.
Since our hotel was next door, we walked over to pick up lunch another day. We had one tuna sandwich with egg and the other was a melted Gouda sandwich. The bread was wonderful and seedy. Diana even packaged them up on paper plates so we could eat at the pool.
A Dining Tip!
The Dining Blog
This is a blog about Dining Adventures. Sometimes, I talk about food. Below, you can read how this started.
On July 4th 2011, I set a goal to try 50 culturally diverse restaurants in one year! (I knew that was possible, living in the Houston area) I spent the year pulling in friends and family to join me, on some unusual dining adventures. I met some curious people, tried some scary foods and explored places and cultures I never would have otherwise. Even though I met my goal, I learned too much to end my adventures in dining. I have continued blogging about memorable dining adventures of all kinds, near and far... and all the discoveries and funny things I've learned along the way!
Locations and types of dining adventures, are listed further down.
